What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is all about helping you feel better and move forward—without having to relive the past. Rather than focusing on what’s wrong, we focus on what you want to change and how you want to feel. By calming the nervous system and working with the subconscious mind, this approach helps reduce stress, quiet overthinking, and build confidence, resilience, and emotional balance so positive change feels natural and achievable.

During Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we use a relaxed state known as trance to access the subconscious mind. Trance is a completely natural state that you move in and out of every day—like when you’re daydreaming, deeply focused, or just drifting off to sleep. In this calm, focused state, the mind becomes more open to positive change, allowing us to gently assess patterns, reduce unhelpful responses, and strengthen healthier ways of thinking and feeling. You remain aware and in control throughout, simply deeply relaxed and supported.

Instead, sessions are led by you, at a pace that feels safe and comfortable. Focusing on what you want to feel differently and where you’d like to be. Supporting small, positive changes that gradually help you feel more in control, more confident, and more like yourself again.

Initial consultation

Before starting your Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, you will need to book and attend your Initial Consultation. 

 

The Initial Consultation gives you the space to share what you’d like to achieve and helps me understand how best to support you. You can provide as much or as little information as you feel comfortable with—there’s no pressure to go into detail if you’re not ready.

 

The consultation is simply a way for us to explore your goals together and for you to ask any questions about the process. It helps ensure that when we begin your session, it is focused on what matters most to you and guided by your needs.

In the second part of the consultation, I will take time to explain exactly how hypnotherapy works and what to expect. I’ll describe what trance is and how it allows us to work with the subconscious mind to support positive change.

The Initial Consultation will be approximately 50 minutes. 

Hypnotherapy session

The following week you will have your first full Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session. 

We will start with a conversation where I will ask you a few questions that help guide the session in a way that’s meaningful for you. 

After this, you’ll move into a relaxed, natural state called trance, or hypnosis. Trance is a completely safe and normal state, similar to when you’re daydreaming or deeply focused. It allows your mind to be calm, open, and receptive to positive change.

You remain fully in control throughout, and the session is led by you and your needs. The goal is to help you feel calmer, lighter, and more confident in your ability to make positive changes. 

After the session, some people notice immediate shifts in how they feel, while for others the changes unfold gradually over the following. Everyone’s experience is different, and that’s completely normal.

Hypnotherapy sessions are 50 minutes long.
